Applies To: ProbateLawCenter.org
Overview

Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy describes how ProbateLawCenter.org ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you visit our website at probatelawcenter.org (the "Site"), submit information through any form on the Site, or otherwise interact with us.

Please read this policy carefully. By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Site.

This Site is an educational resource. We are not a law firm. Nothing on this Site constitutes legal advice, and your use of this Site does not create an attorney-client relationship.

A note on uncertainty: This Site uses third-party technology platforms whose data collection practices may extend beyond what we directly control. We have described our known data practices to the best of our ability. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of all third-party services referenced in this policy.
Section 1

Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you submit a form on this Site — including contact forms, attorney referral request forms, newsletter sign-up forms, or any other intake form — we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (if provided)
  • Your state of residence
  • Any other information you choose to include in a free-text field

By submitting any form on this Site, you consent to being contacted by us and, where applicable, by estate attorneys in our referral network. This consent is disclosed at or near the point of form submission.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our technology platforms, which may include:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited, time on page, and navigation path
  • Referring URL (the page that linked you to our Site)
  • Date and time of your visit
1.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our third-party service providers use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Site, understand usage patterns, and improve your experience. These may include:

Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated data about how visitors use the Site — including pages viewed, session duration, and traffic sources. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
GoHighLevel (GHL)
We use GoHighLevel as our CRM and form platform. When you submit a form, your information is stored in GoHighLevel's systems. GoHighLevel's privacy policy governs their handling of your data: gohighlevel.com/privacy-policy.
Other Technologies
We may use additional tracking technologies. Because our technology stack is actively developing, we cannot guarantee this list is exhaustive at all times. We will update this policy when material new tracking is added.
Section 2

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Attorney Referrals
If you request an attorney referral, we use your contact information to connect you with estate attorneys in our referral network who serve your state. By submitting a referral request form, you consent to being contacted by us and by referring attorneys.
Marketing Emails
If you submit your email address through any form on this Site, you may receive marketing emails from us including educational content, probate law updates, and information about our services. Every marketing email includes a clear and functional unsubscribe mechanism. You may opt out at any time.
Law Change Alerts
If you sign up for law change alerts, we will use your email address and stated state of residence to send you notifications when relevant probate statutes change in your state.
Site Operations
We use automatically collected data to operate, maintain, and improve the Site — including diagnosing technical issues, analyzing traffic patterns, and understanding how content is used.
Communications
We use your contact information to respond to inquiries, process correction submissions, and communicate with you about your use of the Site.
Section 3

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

3.1 Referring Attorneys

When you submit an attorney referral request, we share your name, contact information, and state with estate attorneys in our referral network for the purpose of connecting you with legal counsel. By submitting a referral request, you explicitly consent to this sharing. We do not control how referring attorneys handle your information after receipt — their own privacy policies govern their data practices.

3.2 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Site and our services — including GoHighLevel (CRM and forms), Google (analytics), and email delivery platforms. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf.

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud.

3.4 Business Transfers

If ProbateLawCenter.org is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

Clear Statement

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for their independent commercial use. Information shared with referring attorneys is shared solely for the purpose of connecting you with legal representation, at your request.

Section 4

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including providing services, maintaining business records, and complying with legal obligations.

If you request that we delete your personal information, we will do so within a reasonable time, subject to the following limitations:

  • We may retain information required by law or regulation
  • We may retain aggregated or anonymized data that does not identify you
  • Information already shared with referring attorneys prior to your deletion request cannot be retrieved from those third parties — you must contact them directly
  • Backup copies may persist for a limited period before being purged

Absent a deletion request, we retain personal information indefinitely. To request deletion, contact us at info@probatelawcenter.org.

Section 5

If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us at info@probatelawcenter.org.

Section 9

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include using HTTPS encryption for data transmission and relying on third-party platforms (GoHighLevel, Google) that maintain their own security programs.

No method of data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You provide information to us at your own risk.
Section 10

Third-Party Links & Services

This Site may contain links to third-party websites, including state legislature databases, court websites, government agency sites, and other resources. We link to these sources as part of our primary-source research model. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party website. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit through a link on our Site.

We also embed third-party tools, including Google Analytics and GoHighLevel forms. These services collect data according to their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Section 11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If changes materially affect how we handle information you have previously provided, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly.
